Global G.A.P and Local G.A.P Certification

This course aims to support local initiatives through training, mentorship, and partnerships to improve farming practices and facilitate access to certification. Prepares every learner on audit requirements of a certification body. A certificate is issued upon successful audit compliance.
Challenges & Solutions
Many farms struggle to translate buyer requirements into daily routines. This course turns checklists into workable systems that fit your scale and context.
Common Challenges
What typically goes wrong:
Incomplete records (inputs, harvest, hygiene, training, equipment) and weak traceability
Pesticide/PPP misuse: missing MRL checks, pre-harvest intervals, storage & disposal issues
Inadequate water quality controls for irrigation/packing; poor sanitation & personal hygiene
Gaps in risk assessments (glass/brittle plastic, foreign matter, contamination)
Worker health & safety oversight; missing PPE, first-aid, and welfare facilities
Practical Solutions
How we address them:
Build a simple document system: policies, SOPs, forms, logs, and master lists aligned to CPCC
Design crop protection controls: approved product lists, PHIs, application logs, safe storage layout
Set up water testing plans, acceptance criteria, and corrective actions for irrigation/packhouse
Implement hygiene zoning, hand-washing, cleaning & sanitation (CIP/OPC) and verification
Introduce site risk registers, glass/brittle plastic control, knife/tool logs, and pest control
Establish worker H&S basics: inductions, toolbox talks, PPE matrices, emergency response
Learning Outcomes
After 2 days, participants will be able to:
Explain GLOBALG.A.P. IFA and LOCALG.A.P. scope, modules, and certification routes (single, multi-site, group).
Map farm processes and complete risk assessments covering water, hygiene, crop protection, and contamination.
Set up compliant record-keeping (inputs, applications, harvest, training, equipment maintenance).
Implement traceability & recall drills; assign lot/batch IDs and maintain one-up/one-down records.
Prepare for audits: internal self-assessment, corrective actions, and closing non-conformities.
Understand add-ons (e.g., GRASP) and how they complement buyer requirements.
This training helps producers in various regions access both local and global markets by aligning their practices with recognised standards; leading to better food safety management and greater consumer confidence. Leave with ready-to-use templates and an action plan to reach LOCALG.A.P. or GLOBALG.A.P. certification.
